Why the harsh title ? Because it is indeed a car with no point for existence. Read further and I’ll give some arguments to my statement.
1. Too fast : where in the hell are you suposed to run this car with over 250 mph? I mean there aren’t so many places on this humble planet of ours, where you could reach the top speed of the Veyron. With so many cars on the streets, the traffic is just to intense to even push the Bugatti to at least 100 mph, so there’s no point for all those mph on your speedometer.
2. Too expensive : the first Veyron, the one with 1000 bhp, was priced at 1.2 milion dollars !!! That is insane. Think about the things you could do with all that money : get a super house, a sports car, take a tour of the world, etc and you will still be left with an important amount of cash to put in the bank and live an honest life just from the interest. To make it even more expensive, they produced the Supersports version ( 1200 bhp ) which costs…1.6 milion dollars. I…I..I rest my case, there’s no point.
3. A mechanical abomination : W16 quad turbocharged ????????? What in the name of…? You don’t even need two V8 engines to reach that power, and you also don’t need four turbos. If you are looking for sensations , you can try far less powerful cars like the Caterham R500, because they don’t weight more than 500-600 kg, so the power to weight ratio is even higher than that of the Veyron.
I would add a 4th point to this article but I think you already got the ideea.

You are entitled to your opinion, but you didn’t gave me actual arguments on why is this the best car ever made. You just said it won several titles of popularity. And one more thing : VW say they spend 5 million dollars for every built Veyron…and they sell it to us with 1 million..something isn’t right here, what company in the world would produce something with a loss of 4 million bucks just to show off.
You are right and wrong it is pointless and I find it insane that the vast majority of Veyrons have less than 1000miles on the clock. What a waste; I would eat, sleep… and so on in the car if I had one and drive it till it turned to dust.
So what is the point from VW’s point of view, it is a bold statement about how great their engineers are and it’s cheaper than F1.
From an owners point of view it is to show your wealth and power and it is an investment, with all the special models, it’s rarity and expense it will only ever go up in value once it ceases production. A Mclaren F1 is now worth a cool £2million.
1. Too fast yes but super cars are about potential, about an image not necessarily a top speed you will actually use.
2. Expensive yes but people are prepared to pay it and VW lose money on each one so actually it’s a bit cheap.
3. Mechanical abomination yes it is a daft piece of machinery wholy inefficient, heavy and a mad way to achieve their goals but it works and it is kind of incredible also.
Pointless definitely but it is great such things exist
From a money point of view I agree what you said is very sensible but I also think you shouldn’t do yourself down; aspire for the highest, we are only here once being sensible, rational and brown shoes all your life is something you may live to regret.
