Sergio Marchionne, Fiat-Chrysler head of the Alliance, announced that the new Grand Cherokee platform will be used same by the SUVs that will be created by the Fiat Group brands.
The new generation of Jeep Grand Cherokee has proven to be a success for Chrysler. The model was able to triple sales in October compared to the same period of the year. The Canadian went further, saying that the platform model will be taken over by SUV’s that will be produced for Fiat, Alfa Romeo and even Maserati. Later will be developed a Chrysler-branded SUV that will be made throughout the Grand Cherokee’s platform. The most interesting element of this platform? It was done with Chrysler Group’s former partner, Daimler Corporation.
Marchionne said that Fiat will launch three new models in 2011. One of these is an improved version of Panda, Lancia Y is the second and the third is the European version of the Chrysler 300C. Head of Italian-American Corporation said that now they have enough new models for 2011. Also, Sergio Marchionne said with confidence that Fiat it will meet its 2011 target without problems and has pledged to invest 20 billion euros in its European plants over the next four years.
